This has been a tough year for me and one of the tools that helped me was a deepening of my meditation practice. The first inkling of Nuries came about one day as I was striking a match light a candle for a practice I learned from Raul Dahl, haha! When I was younger I read The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and loved the story about the person, who after meditating by staring at a candle for so long, was able to see through walls.
Now, I’m not suggesting that Nuries will help you do that, but I stood there with candle in one hand and the lit match stick in the other and started to meditate I watched as the match burned to the end before even lighting the candle. And that’s when I thought we could use matches as a portable meditation timer!
So Nuries was born. The project grew as I would carry match sticks with me, and my interest in essential oils and smells got me thinking about ways we can connect to the present with all of our senses.
This is the start of a journal documenting the creation of Nuries. If you’d like to help, let me know :)!
Come along for the ride, we’re off to learn how matches are made! 😀
